The Directorate of Secondary Education is responsible for imparting knowledge, inculcating scientific temper and developing skills to face the socio-economic life situations after their studies. The Secondary Education comprises Standards IX and X and the Higher Secondary Education have Standards XI and XII.
At the district level Chief Educational Officer is the administrative officer for the secondary school system. There are District Educational Officers for each educational district of KanyaKumari district. There are totally 250 schools in the district of which 127 are Higher Secondary and 125 are High Schools.
